On December 11, Symmetry and Beyond — A Symposium in Honour of the 95th Birthday of Professor T. D. Lee was held in Songshan Lake, Dongguan. The symposium is an online conference hosted by South Bay Interdisciplinary Science Center (SBISC)  of the Songshan Lake Materials Laboratory (SLAB). Prof. Frank Wilczek, Nobel Prize winner in Physics in 2004, Prof. Xie Xincheng, Prof. Tang Chao, Prof.  Lin Haiqing, and Prof. Wen Xiaogang and other more than 20 experts attended the symposium.

The theme of this symposium is "Symmetry and Material Science". The principle of symmetry is one of the core concepts of theoretical physics throughout the 20th century, such as relativistic mechanics and the standard model of elementary particles. It is used in the study of the structure and motion of matter in condensed matter physics. It also has a wide range of applications. The symposium focused on this theme and used popular language to showcase some of the latest research progress and results in the field for academics and physics enthusiasts, and also aimed at celebrating the ninety-fifth birthday of the outstanding physicist Professor T. D. Lee. The seminar was also prepared and organized by a number of CUSPEA scholars. It is one of the series of events for the 95th birthday of Professor T. D. Lee organized by the Tsung Dao LEE library of Shanghai Jiaotong University.
